Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for Medical ICU in Georgia. Must have GA license, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, and at least 2 years ICU experience. CCRN preferred. Responsibilities include care for critically ill patients, invasive monitoring, and unit-wide collaboration within a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital.

The unit is 14 beds with 1:1-2 nurse-to-patient ratios, night shifts, and weekend rotations. Epic EMR and various bedside equipment are used.

Qualifications

  • Active GA or compact RN license required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience.
  • 12 months of core experience in the specialty unit, most recent within the last year.

Responsibilities

  • Care for ICU patients in a 14-bed unit within a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital.
  • Manage hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring.
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:1-2 with CNA support.
  • 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A), 36 hours per week; weekend rotation on a 6-week schedule.
  • Floating to all adult ICU units including PCU.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS certifications.

Requirements
  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification required
  • CCRN certification preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
  • Minimum 12 months of core experience in the specialty unit, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin and heparin drips, and titratable drips for HR and BP
  • Experience managing vasoactive medications and invasive lines including arterial lines, central venous lines, and ICP monitoring
  • Experience assisting with bedside procedures such as chest tube placement, tracheostomy, and PEG tube placement
  • Experience managing ventilator-dependent patients
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Responsibilities
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit within a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with Chest Pain and Stroke Center designations
  • 14-bed unit with a census of 14
  • Cares for medical ICU patients with respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, stroke, ARDS, overdoses, and chronic vent/trach patients
  • Manages hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring and close observation
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:1-2, occasionally 1:3
  • CNA support of 1-2 per shift
  • 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A), 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation of 6 shifts on a 6-week schedule
  • Floating required to all adult ICU units in-house, including PCU
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
  • Utilizes TABLO, Belmont Rapid Infuser, PCA pain management, and cooling/heating devices
  • Works within a collaborative unit supported by CNAs, unit secretaries, resource/discharge nurses, 24/7 RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
  • Unit culture is described as busy but team-oriented
  • 1-day facility orientation with educational modules, plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Navy scrub color required for RNs
  • Free and paid parking options available on campus
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
  • No radius rule for GA facilities; local candidates receive the same rate as travelers
