Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment in South Carolina. The position requires an SC or compact RN license, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, and at least 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience. Epic EMR proficiency is a plus.

The role features a night schedule (3x12s, 1900-0730) with every-other-weekend coverage and floating to other MS/Tele units as needed. Housing and travel reimbursements are provided.

Qualifications

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience
• MS/Tele competencies required, including ability to pass an EKG exam
• At least 1 year of Epic EMR experience
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team activation required
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and feeding tube management required
• Experience managing respiratory and renal patients, including oxygen administration and renal failure care

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Patient population presents with respiratory diseases, infections, dementia, and neurological issues
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (1900-0730)
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to facility need
• Floating required to other MS/Tele units or facilities based on census needs
• Charge RN present every shift to support unit flow and operations
• Uses Omnicell medication system and Epic for documentation
• Deliver comprehensive med/surg tele care to a primarily elderly patient population with complex disease processes
• Collaborate with a supportive care team in a unit known for teamwork and a healthy work environment
• Complete pre-assignment testing and compliance modules within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Attend orientation held every Monday along with annual compliance training
• First-time travelers will be considered based on relevant experience
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to qualify for full travel eligibility, with reduced rates for those 90-99.9 miles away
• Night shift travelers in this specialty must live at least 50 miles from the contracted campus, with full bill rate granted at 100+ miles
