American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 24-bed acute care unit in Iron Mountain, MI. An active MI RN license and BLS are required, with ACLS preferred. The role demands at least 1 year of Med/Surg or Telemetry experience and comfort performing IV starts without a dedicated IV team.

Responsibilities include diverse surgical and medical cases, team nursing, and potential on-call duties. Cerner EMR is in use; Epic transition is planned.

• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg or Med/Surg-Telemetry experience required.
• Experience or knowledge of TURPs-CBI preferred.
• Critical Access or Trauma Level 3/4 hospital experience preferred.
• Must be comfortable starting IVs without dedicated IV team.

Responsibilities

• Care for a 24-bed inpatient acute care unit.
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 5:1 day, 6:1 night with team nursing.
• Handle a varied caseload incl. NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU issues, pacemakers, sepsis.
• Involve day surgical caseload including ortho, choles, appys, TURPs-CBI.
• Utilize Cerner EMR, with transition to Epic underway.
• Provide care on telemetry-focused unit with diverse medical/surgical patients.

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 24-bed acute care unit requiring at least 1 year of MS/MS-Tele experience and an active MI RN license.

• BSN not required for this position

Responsibilities

• 24-bed inpatient acute care unit with up to 10 observation surgical cases per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 5:1 on day shift and 6:1 at 11pm using team nursing with LPNs at 2:7
• Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU issues, pacemakers, sepsis, and nursing home placements
• Day surgical caseload includes ortho (hips and knees), choles, appys, and TURPs-CBI
• Small pediatric population (about 3 per year) typically not assigned to travelers unless experienced
• Cerner EMR currently in use, transitioning to Epic
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700)
• Weekend rotation required (EOW, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays
• On-call/standby opportunity may be required
• Floating required to like units and patient populations
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Charge nurse role available for travelers as relief charge
• Hospitalist/intensivist coverage in-house until 6pm, then telemedicine coverage
• RT coverage available 24/7 with CPAP equipment
• Basic tele arrhythmia monitoring at nurses desk; no dedicated tele/monitor techs
• No IV team onsite; RNs must be comfortable performing IV starts
• Provide direct patient care on a busy telemetry-focused Med/Surg unit with a varied medical and surgical caseload
• Unit orientation includes an 8-hour computer education day, a shadow shift, and a 12-hour supervised shift before working independently
• Solid, professional-colored scrubs required with no specific color designation
• Nurse aides are present on the unit to support patient care
• Facility requires all clinicians to clock in and out onsite
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local for pay purposes
• Former employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to reapplying, subject to facility approval
