Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Tele assignment in South Carolina, requiring an SC or compact license and telemetry experience within a resource float pool. The position features night shifts (3×12 hours, 19:00–07:00), 1:6 patient ratio, and floating across multiple campuses as needed; travel is required and local candidates are not eligible.

Candidates with 2+ years MS/Tele experience and BLS/ACLS/NIHSS are preferred; prior travel experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Active SC or compact RN license required; pending license accepted if obtained before start.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele experience; 1+ year may be considered case-by-case.
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred; ideally 3 years MS/Tele experience.
• Community hospital experience preferred.
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia management.
• Must pass arrhythmia and medication competency tests on the first day of orientation with only one attempt allowed.
• May be required to shave facial hair to pass an onsite respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting.
• Allocated to a designated campus but may float to main campus or other units as needed.
• Patient ratio of 1:6.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00.
• Weekend coverage required as needed.
• On-call required, including 2 on-call shifts or 2 additional shifts per 6 weeks.
• Holiday coverage part of on-call requirements.
• Epic EMR experience preferred but not required.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility.
• All time-off requests must be submitted with the application.

• Facility has an attendance policy for travelers; missing more than two shifts during the 13‑week contract without reasonable explanation may result in contract review for cancellation
• Candidates who were previously permanent staff at this health system are not eligible to return as travelers
• Open to candidates seeking 48‑hour weekly schedules
• This is a resource pool position with floating expected across multiple campuses within scope of practice
