Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a mixed acuity night shift unit in Wisconsin. Requires active WI/Compact RN license, BLS, Epic proficiency, and at least 1 year of RN experience. ACLS preferred.

Community hospital background and strong telemetry, respiratory, wound care, and insulin/renal care skills are valued. 70-mile local rule applies for travel candidates. Shift is 3x12-hour nights (19:00–07:00) with patient ratios around 1:6.

Qualifications

• Active WI or Compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Community hospital experience preferred.
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration.
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response protocols.
• Wound care and isolation precaution knowledge required.
• Experience with insulin protocols and renal failure management preferred.
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Mixed acuity Med/Surg Tele unit with MS, MS/Tele, and Tele patients.
• Patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, sepsis, cellulitis, pneumonia, SBO, afib, NSTEMI, CVA/TIA, total joint replacement, AMS, and AKI.
• Patient ratio of 1:6.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Provide direct patient care across a variety of med/surg and telemetry diagnoses.
• Collaborate with rapid response and code teams as needed.
• Candidates residing within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and not accepted for this position.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Clinicians cannot work past 1 year as a traveler at this facility without taking a 6-month break before returning.
