Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Orthopedics-Neuro unit in California. Requires travel experience, 2+ years MS/Tele nursing, CA license, BLS and NIHSS certifications, and willingness to work a 3x12 night schedule.

Candidate must handle complex ortho/neuro cases in a telemetry setting. Responsibilities include patient care for adults and geriatrics, strict adherence to SBAR communication, Omnicell and EPIC documentation, and time-off pre-approval considerations.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• Required BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years MS/Tele nursing experience; travel experience required.
• First-time travelers not accepted; trauma level I/II preferred; charge nurse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for Med-Surg/Telemetry Orthopedics-Neuro patients in a high acuity unit.
• Manage patients with stroke, TBI, trauma, ortho and neuro diagnoses.
• Maintain 1:4-5 patient ratio; night shift 1900-0730; floating as needed.
• No on-call; SBAR communication; document in EPIC; use Omnicell system.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Orthopedics-Neuro unit requiring prior travel experience and 2+ years of MS/Tele nursing.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required (hard stop)
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Preferred: Trauma Level I and Level II experience
• Preferred: previous charge nurse experience
• Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, cardiac monitoring, use of rapid response/code teams, isolation precautions/PPE, peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration via face mask and portable tank, IV therapy/phlebotomy
• One professional reference required (within 2 years)

Responsibilities

• Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit specializing in Ortho/Neuro patient care
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as stroke, TBI, seizures, trauma, orthopedic conditions, wounds, diabetes, and psych
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 1900-0730
• Floating required based on hospital census
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Omnicell medication system and EPIC documentation system
• Communication via SBAR
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with complex ortho/neuro diagnoses in a med/surg telemetry setting
• Navy scrubs required
• Time off requests must be pre-approved by the manager and submitted in advance for consideration
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate
• Previous permanent staff of the facility are not eligible for this assignment
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
