Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Night Shift Orthopedics RN with a valid California RN license and BLS certification for an acute care setting.

The role requires at least one year of recent experience, Level I trauma experience, and willingness to travel. Responsibilities include orthopedic trauma and total joint cases, patient care on a 1:5 ratio, and nightly three 12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) with occasional floating to sister facilities.

• Floating between like units; no on-call responsibilities
• Epic charting used for documentation
• Travelers may be required to float to sister facilities within the region

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift Orthopedics RN requiring a CA RN license, at least 1 year of experience, and BLS certification.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience required
• BLS certification required
• Trauma Level I experience required; Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen administration, and nasal cannula
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Orthopedic-specific skills including ortho trauma care, total joint replacement, and traction care
• Experience with PCA medications, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry remote monitoring
• Experience with rapid response/code team protocols
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous Providence facility employees must wait at least 3 months before returning, and must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Scrub color for RNs is royal blue or navy blue
• Free parking available on-site
• RTO requests must be submitted at the time of application and limited to minimize delays
• Must be willing to commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Travelers may be required to float to sister facilities within the region as needed
