Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Ortho/Trauma unit in Missouri. Active MO or Compact licensure and BLS are required, with at least 1 year of Med/Surg and orthopedics experience. Night shifts from 7p to 7a, 3 twelve‑hour shifts, and potential cross‑unit float are part of the schedule.

The facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, offering housing allowance and per diem benefits for travel staff, plus relocation and licensure reimbursements.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience.
• Ortho experience required.
• Telemetry and NIH Stroke Scale experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 23-bed 6 East Ortho/Trauma unit.
• Patient ratios 1:4 to 1:5 with unit support staff.
• Operate specialized equipment including traction and fixators.
• Document using Meditech; night shifts 7p–7a.
• Contract staff float first to other Med/Surg units.
• Post‑op knee/hip/shoulder care and trauma cases.
• Bedside shift reports and hourly rounding.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Ortho experience required
• Telemetry and NIH Stroke Scale experience helpful
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Responsibilities

• Work in a 23-bed 6 East Ortho/Trauma unit
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
• Supported by unit secretaries and patient care techs
• Specialized equipment includes traction, fixators, and cooling equipment
• Uses Meditech documentation system
• Schedule consists of 3 twelve-hour shifts with 3 weekend shifts per schedule period
• Night shift hours from 7p to 7a
• Contract staff float first, to other Med/Surg level units including General MS, Nephrology, and Neuro/Trauma
• Bedside shift report and hourly rounding required
• Care for post‑op knee, hip, and shoulder replacement patients, trauma patients, and occasional neuro overflow cases
• Facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Navy scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
