Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Outpatient Oncology/Chemo Certified role in Texas. Must hold active TX or compact RN license, BLS, and ONCC chemotherapy certification; travel nursing experience required.

Responsibilities include chemotherapy administration, infusion therapy, port care, and managing oncologic emergencies in an outpatient setting. Shift is 5x8-hour days (8:00 AM–5:00 PM) with Epic charting. Candidates outside the service area are eligible to apply.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification required (Fundamentals not accepted).
• OCN certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years oncology/chemo nursing experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Experience administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy agents.
• Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, and sepsis management.

• Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration and infusion therapy in an outpatient oncology setting.
• Perform central line, PICC line, and port care and maintenance.
• Manage chemotherapy side effects and symptom management; provide patient/family education.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Outpatient Oncology/Chemo Certified position requiring ONS/ONCC chemotherapy certification and prior travel experience.

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy certification required (Fundamentals certificate not accepted)
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of oncology/chemo nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, central line and PICC line care
• Experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and immunotherapy agents
• Knowledge of oncologic emergencies including ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, and sepsis management
• Experience managing chemotherapy side effects and symptom management
• Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic malignancies
• Phlebotomy skills and neutropenic precautions knowledge required

Responsibilities

• Outpatient oncology and infusion center setting
• Patient population includes all cancer diagnoses as well as malignant and non-malignant hematology conditions
• Patient ratio of 1:8
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Epic charting system required
• Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, infusion therapy, and symptom management in an outpatient oncology setting
• Responsible for recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies and treatment side effects
• Deliver psychosocial support including patient/family education and advanced directive discussions
• Perform central line, PICC line, and port care and maintenance
• Must complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
• Orientation includes onsite completion of required training modules
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Former staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• All requested time off must be listed at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
