Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg RN for night shift in a Level 1 Trauma hospital in Illinois. The role requires Epic EMR experience, Level 1 Trauma background, and a current IL license with BLS.

Expect 12-hour nights, three days weekly, and weekend coverage on a rotating schedule. Candidates should have at least one year of nursing experience (ASN required, BSN preferred) and strong patient-safety skills.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license (temporary license accepted).
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma setting experience required
• Strong skills in patient safety, fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation precautions
• Effective communication, critical thinking, and time management skills required

Responsibilities

• Med/Surg unit within a Level 1 Trauma hospital
• Night shift, 7:00PM-7:30AM, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
• Six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday
• Float to similar units as needed
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• Responsibilities include patient assessments, medication administration, care plan documentation, admission/discharge coordination, and hourly rounding
• Delegates and validates tasks completed by HCTs
• Provides direct patient care using the nursing process within a collaborative healthcare team
• Receives bedside shift report and ensures safe, updated patient environment at shift change
• Maintains high standards of patient safety, documentation, and medication administration accuracy
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• RTO limited to no more than 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Travelers who have completed 1 year of continuous assignment at this health system must take a 6-month break before returning
• First-time travelers may be considered
