Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week day shift assignment at a Level II Trauma center in Illinois. Requires active IL RN license and at least 2 years Med/Surg experience. BLS required; NIHSS preferred.

Cerner charting experience and remote telemetry skills are expected. Travel nurses float within facility or nearby affiliates as needed. Responsibilities include patient care in a 372-bed center, 4x12 hour days (0600-1830), and weekend coverage with no on-call

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required or must be in process with an ETA to obtain.
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience including remote telemetry monitoring and use of Rapid Response Teams
• Gastrointestinal care including colostomy care and feeding tube management
• Genitourinary/renal care including pre/post hemodialysis management
• IV therapy and phlebotomy with port access, blood products, central/PICC line management
• Medication administration including heparin, insulin, PCA
• Respiratory care including CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
• Cerner charting system experience required
• AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI certifications not accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit with an average daily census of 35
• Patient ratio of 1:6-7
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 0600-1830
• Works every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Provide direct patient care in a 372-bed acute care Level II Trauma center
• Scrub colors must be blue, black, or gray
• Floating is required for all travelers within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 non-holiday days
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• Housing availability in the area is limited
