Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg RN for a night shift assignment at a Level 1 trauma center requiring active IL RN licensure and surgical/post-op experience.

The role is a 13-week contract on the night shift with 12-hour shifts (6:30 PM–7:00 AM), every other weekend, and potential cross-campus float while using Epic EMR. Travel experience and IA licensure may be required; housing and licensure reimbursements available.

Qualifications

Active IL RN license required at time of submission
IA RN license also required, or proof of application for IA single-state or compact license
BLS certification (AHA) required
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg, Post Op, or Stepdown experience required
Surgical/post-op experience required
At least 1 completed travel contract preferred
One supervisory reference from within 2 years of employment/contract required
Driver's license required for consideration
Work history/resume required for consideration
Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission required

Responsibilities

Surgical/Orthopedic Med Surg unit
13-week contract assignment
Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
Every other weekend required
No on-call requirements
Patient ratio of up to 5-7 patients
May be required to float within the same discipline across local campuses
Uses Epic EMR
Contribute professional and clinical knowledge as part of an interdisciplinary care team
Level 1 trauma center environment
Candidates must not have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months
Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility for standard travel rate eligibility
Holiday coverage required, with travelers expected to work 2 of 3 major winter holidays (Christmas, New Year’s, or Thanksgiving)
Limited time-off requests permitted during peak holiday weeks
