Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Cardio/Pulmonary Med/Surg Telemetry unit in Illinois. The role requires Level 1 Trauma experience, Epic charting proficiency, and at least 1 year of nursing experience in cardio/telemetry settings.

The candidate must hold an Illinois RN license in good standing with BLS and ACLS. ASN is required, BSN preferred. This travel assignment offers housing assistance and competitive pay.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a Cardio/Pulmonary unit requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience.

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum one (1) year of relevant nursing experience
• Level 1 Trauma center experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Telemetry experience required

Responsibilities

• Cardio/Pulmonary Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Manages care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients
• Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hrs/wk)
• Six weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
• Rotating holiday shift coverage required
• No on-call requirements
• May float to like units
• Uses Epic EMR for documentation
• Provides direct patient care including medication administration, IV venipuncture, blood administration, and lab monitoring
• Prepares patients for procedures and manages pain
• Completes discharge planning and patient education for safe transition from hospital
• Participates in team huddles and delegates tasks with appropriate follow-up
• Performs basic patient care duties such as turning and toileting per standards of care
• Demonstrates professional communication and conflict management skills
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not remain on assignment for more than 1 year at this health system without a 6-month break in service before returning
