Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in California. The role requires 2–3 years of Med/Surg specialty experience and prior travel assignment history at a Level II trauma acute care hospital.

Responsibilities include care for medical and post-op patients on a 30-bed unit, 12-hour day shifts, and rotating weekends. Certification in BLS and a valid CA RN license are required, along with COVID vaccination and successful dysrhythmia screening.

Responsibilities

• Care for a 30-bed Med Surg unit in a Level II trauma hospital.
• Cares for medical and post-op/surgical patients.
• Maintain patient ratio of 1:5.
• Operate Cerner EMR.
• Work 12-hour day shifts, 6:45–7:15 schedule.
• Every other weekend; 4 weekend shifts in 4 weeks.
• Float to telemetry as needed (1:4 or between other Med Surg floors).
• Charge nurse acts as clinical supervisor during breaks.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring 2-3 years of specialty experience and prior travel assignment history at a Level II trauma acute care hospital.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of Med Surg specialty experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) prior to offer confirmation
• Must be a team player

Responsibilities

• 30-bed Med Surg unit in an acute care, Level II trauma hospital setting
• Cares for medical patients and post-op/surgical patient population
• Patient ratio of 1 to 5
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour day shifts, scheduled 6:45-7:15
• Every other weekend required, with 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• First to float, including to telemetry at a 1:4 ratio or between other Med Surg floors
• Charge nurse functions as clinical supervisor, providing break relief without taking a patient assignment
• 2 nurse aides on days and 1 on nights
• Portable telemetry box available if needed, with monitor tech support, though nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7, with RT and pharmacy also available around the clock
• No ventilator or IV team support on this unit
• Provide direct patient care to medical and post-surgical patients on a busy Med Surg unit
• One shift of floor-specific orientation provided
• Navy scrub color required
• Holiday coverage worked into the permanent staff rotation
• Holiday RTO may be considered but cannot be guaranteed
• Pass/fail competency testing on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes completed on first day of orientation
• First-time travelers are not considered for this role due to the prior travel experience requirement
