Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a registered nurse for a 30-bed cardiac med-surg step-down unit in Tennessee. Requires ACLS, BLS, and telemetry experience, with Meditech charting proficiency.

Night shift, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 3 full 12-hour shifts per week plus weekends and rotation with other travel nurses. Active TN or compact RN license is required; candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.

Qualifications

• Active TN or compact RN license required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and cardiac telemetry/EKG rhythm identification.
• Med-surg experience required.
• Familiarity with cardiac medications and drips required.
• Meditech charting experience required.
• Cardiac/telemetry knowledge and EKG rhythm identification skills required.

Responsibilities

• Works in a 30-bed cardiac med-surg step-down unit.
• Patient ratio of 1:6.
• Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Uses GE telemetry and Rover, portable WOWs, and Welch-Allen VS machine.
• Documents in Meditech.
• Manages titratable cardiac drips (Cardizem, heparin) and non-titratable drips (dopamine, dobutamine, amiodarone).
• Three full 12-hour shifts per week with 3-4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period.
• Floating required on rotation with other travel nurses.
• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac step-down unit with titrated and non-titrated cardiac drips.
• Unit staffed with a charge nurse, unit secretary on dayshift, and 3 PCTs per shift.
• Required to wear navy blue scrubs.
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted.
