Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in Charleston, SC. Requires active SC or compact RN license and 1 year of recent RN experience with BLS.

Responsibilities include care on a 21-bed Digestive Disease unit, 1:6 patient ratio, and 3x12-hour day shifts with weekend rotations. Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season; proficiency with Epic EMR and IV therapy is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care experience
• Isolation precautions and PPE use knowledge

Responsibilities

• Care for GI, Bariatric, and Autologous Islet Cell patients on a 21-bed Digestive Disease unit
• Patient population aged 17 and older
• Patient ratio 1:6
• Work day shift 3x12-hour shifts 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• Weekend shifts 4 per 4 weeks; holiday rotation
• Floating to similar units as needed
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation
• Deliver complex nursing care using modular teamwork
• Travelers may join emergency response teams during hurricane season
• First-time travelers may be considered

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 1 year of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• Charting system experience required
• Skilled in isolation precautions and PPE use
• Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including Rapid Response/Code teams
• Social Security number required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work on a 21-bed Digestive Disease Medical/Surgical unit caring for complex GI, Bariatric, and Autologous Islet Cell patients
• Patient population includes individuals 17 years and older
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period
• Holiday rotation required
• Floating within scope to similar units as needed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Deliver complex nursing care using a modified modular nursing model that promotes teamwork
• Facility is a Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, and Magnet Hospital with 820 staffed beds
• Scrub requirement: solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms
• Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September)
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius
• Non-local candidates are prioritized over local candidates
• Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval depending on unit needs
