Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The 23-bed unit operates 7p-7a with a 1:6 patient ratio and uses EPIC EMR.

The role requires at least one year of post-surgical experience and an active MO or compact RN license. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive post-surgical Med-Surg care, floating to other units as needed, and supporting patients and families.

Qualifications

• Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent post-surgical (non-OR) nursing experience required.
• Peri-dialysis experience preferred.
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Post-surgical Med-Surg unit within a hospital setting.
• 23-bed unit with a 1:6 patient ratio.
• Cares for post-surgical patients including urology, ortho, general surgery, and medical overflow cases.
• Uses customary equipment including IV pumps.
• Uses EPIC EMR.
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a.
• Every other weekend required, block scheduling accommodated when possible but not guaranteed.
• No call requirements.
• Customary floating required to Med Surg and Progressive units.
• Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, and defining nursing interventions.
• Provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
• Educates patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
• Monitors changing patient conditions and re-evaluates care objectives as needed.
• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 unless client-approved exemption is granted
• Expected to work at least one major summer or winter holiday
• Up to 5 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week period, with additional time subject to approval and possible makeup at the end of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted; candidates within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local contract limit of 3 consecutive 13-week assignments before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the radius
• Located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, near a Level 3 Emergency and Trauma Center with Comprehensive Cardiac and Primary Stroke Center certifications
