Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg unit on the night shift in Nashville. The 20-bed unit requires recent Med/Surg experience, an active TN or Compact RN license, and BLS certification.

The role includes a three-shift schedule with weekend coverage and floating to other units as needed. The facility is a Comprehensive Stroke Center and ACS-verified trauma center, offering tech support, full Meditech documentation, and a strong emphasis on patient and family

Qualifications

• Active RN license (TN or Compact) in hand.
• BLS certification required.
• 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required.
• Ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, perform basic wound care, and maintain surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes.
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months.
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• 3rd Floor Medical Surgical/Neuro unit with 20 beds.
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Patient ratio of 6:1.
• Tech support available on day and night shifts, unit secretary coverage 7a-7p.
• Uses IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology.
• Documentation completed in Meditech.
• Schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week, including 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule.
• Floating required, with contract labor staff floated first on a rotating basis.
• Provide attentive, compassionate care with bedside shift reporting and personal connections with patients and families.
• Work within a facility recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center.
• Navy scrubs (top and bottom) required as part of dress code.
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted.
