Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a RN House Supervisor for a day-shift role in California. Requires CA licensure, BLS/ACLS certification, and supervisory experience across a multi-facility hospital system. The position includes bed placement oversight, 3x12 hour days, and regular inter-facility coordination using Epic EMR.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in-hand at time of application
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications in-hand
• Minimum 2 years RN experience
• Minimum 1 year acute care experience
• Specialized units require 1 year of full-time equivalent experience in past 2 years
• Prior charge or supervisory experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• CPI Blue Card in-hand for ER/Float Pool RNs
• Two supervisor references required
• Prior travel experience required unless noted

Responsibilities

• Oversee bed placement and patient flow across UC facilities
• Day shift 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 7 days rotation
• Six weekends required per 6-week schedule
• Float required between UC facilities
• Use Epic EMR system to manage workflow
• Coordinate admissions and transfers between units/facilities
• Collaborate with nursing, case management, physicians and departments
• Monitor census and bed availability to anticipate needs
• Serve as liaison between ED, perioperative, inpatient units and operations
• Resolve conflicts and ensure efficient bed utilization
• Local candidates accepted at same rate as travel staff
• Returning staff must be gone 1 year before traveler role
• RTO limited during first two weeks; maximum 7 days RTO preferred

• Candidates for specialized units must have at least 1 year of full-time equivalent experience in that specialty within the past 2 years
• Prior charge or supervisory experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

• Epic EMR experience required and must be documented in work history
• CPI Blue Card from the Crisis Prevention Institute required in-hand for ER and Float Pool RNs (MAB or online certification not accepted)

Responsibilities

• House Supervisor role overseeing bed placement and patient flow across UC facilities
• Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Sunday through Saturday rotation
• 6 weekends required per 6-week schedule
• Float required between UCI facilities
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Facilitate and assign appropriate bed placements for intra- and inter-facility admissions and transfers
• Coordinate with nursing units, case management, physicians, and other departments to ensure timely transitions of care
• Monitor patient census and bed availability to anticipate needs and resolve placement delays
• Serve as central liaison between Emergency Department, perioperative services, inpatient units, capacity management, operations, physicians, and case managers
• Collaborate to resolve conflicts, prioritize high-acuity patients, and ensure efficient bed utilization
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel
• Returning staff must be gone a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler
• No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract highly preferred
