Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for night shift in Illinois. Active IL RN license and fetal monitoring certification are required.

Responsibilities include caring for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients, assisting cesarean sections as circulator, and coordinating with obstetric teams. The unit handles ~400 patients and ~120 deliveries per month with on-site OBED and NICU nursery.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience required.
• 3+ years Labor & Delivery experience preferred.
• Cesarean section circulator experience preferred.
• PACU recovery experience preferred.
• OB Emergency Department experience preferred but not required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required.
• Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required.
• STABLE certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Care for Labor and Delivery/Birthing Center unit.
• Support ~400 patients and ~120 deliveries per month.
• Manages 7 L&D rooms and 2 OB surgical ORs.
• Oversee 6-bed OBED and Level II-E Nursery onsite.
• Night shift 1900-0700, 36 hours per week.
• Weekend coverage up to 2 weekends per 6 weeks.
• Holiday coverage as needed.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients.
• Care for high-risk mothers from 32 weeks gestation and beyond.
• Act as cesarean section circulator and post-anesthesia nurse.

• 7 Labor and Delivery rooms and 2 dedicated Operating Rooms for obstetrical surgical procedures
• 6-bed Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED) and Level II-E Nursery onsite
• Night shift 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement of up to 2 weekends per 6 weeks (may vary)
• Holiday coverage as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and post-operative obstetric patients
• Care for high-risk and high-acuity maternal patients at 32 weeks gestation and above
• Function as a cesarean section circulator and provide post-anesthesia recovery care as appropriate
• Interpret fetal heart rate patterns and intervene appropriately to promote maternal and fetal well-being
• Collaborate with physicians, certified nurse midwives, anesthesia providers, neonatal teams, and interdisciplinary staff
• Support emergency obstetrical interventions and participate in rapid response situations
• Provide patient and family education while promoting a positive birth experience
• Adhere to professional, regulatory, and organizational standards of nursing practice
