Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Labor & Delivery position in Seattle, WA, requiring a WA or compact license and prior high-risk L&D experience. This role covers a high-volume, high-acuity unit with a night shift and 1:1-2 patient care ratios.

Applicants should hold BLS and NRP, with preferred ACLS and AWHONN certifications. Travel-friendly benefits and housing allowances are offered.

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs.
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month.
• Care for midwifery clients, private OB patients, Adult Recovery Services and community care clinic patients.
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:30.
• Provide comprehensive Labor & Delivery care including circulating duties, high-risk delivery assistance, and postpartum recovery support.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a WA or compact license and prior high-risk L&D experience.

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum 1 year of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience required
• Experience in fast-paced, high-acuity L&D environments required
• Skilled in circulating for C-sections, assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, and forceps/vacuum extraction
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Pitocin
• Experience functioning as a Baby Nurse, including newborn assessment, eye care, and Vitamin K injections
• Experience with electronic fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Epic charting system experience required

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Care for midwifery clients, private OB patients, Adult Recovery Services (substance recovery) patients, and community care clinic patients
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
• Float required to Postpartum/Antepartum units, including sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care
• Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide comprehensive Labor & Delivery care including circulating duties, high-risk delivery assistance, and postpartum recovery support
• Function in the Baby Nurse role during delivery, continuing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Perform newborn assessments, eye care, thigh injections, and other neonatal care duties
• Administer medications including anticoagulants, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and Magnesium Sulfate therapy
• Provide antepartum and postpartum care including couplet care, hemorrhage management, and lactation support
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Requested time off is considered on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted upfront
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
• Former permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the health system
