American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift in California. You must have active CA RN licensure, 3+ years in L&D, and BLS/ACLS/NRP. Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required; STABLE preferred.

Travel experience and driver’s license copy are desired. Unit uses Cerner EMR and FetalLink; night shifts run 7pm–7:30am. Beneficial to have C-section circulation experience; float required between L&D and Postpartum, with NICU float as needed.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience.
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required.
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required (AWHONN).
• Must circulate for C-sections; scrubbing not required.
• Two professional references within specified timeframes.
• Copy of driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Acute care L&D/Postpartum unit with designated beds and nursery.
• Unit averages about 3 births per day and ~1,545 per year.
• Uses Cerner EMR and FetalLink fetal monitoring system.
• Night shifts 7pm–7:30am.
• Follow AWHONN staffing guidelines for patient ratios.
• Weekend shifts: 4 in a 4-week cycle.
• Floating between L&D and Postpartum; L&D nurses float to NICU as needed.
• Charge and resource nurse support on each shift.
• OB techs assist with scrubbing, deliveries, stocking, and intake.
• On-call 24/7 with 30-minute response; in-house option.
• Care for high-risk deliveries across gestational ages; substance withdrawals.
• Large Spanish-speaking patient population; holiday coverage in rotation.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN with at least 3 years of experience for a night shift assignment requiring active CA RN licensure and fetal monitoring certification.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of L&D nursing experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required (AWHONN intermediate or advanced); STABLE certification preferred
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections; scrubbing experience not required
• At least one prior travel assignment preferred
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Acute care L&D/Postpartum unit with 7 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, 2 overflow beds, and 27 postpartum beds with a 5-bed nursery
• Unit averages 3 births per day and approximately 1,545 births per year
• Uses Cerner EMR and FetalLink fetal heart monitoring system
• 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am
• Follows AWOHNN staffing guidelines for patient ratios
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts within a 4-week schedule
• Call is optional but preferred; inquire during interview
• Floating required between L&D and Postpartum units, with L&D nurses also floating to NICU for grower/feeder care
• L&D nurses must have Postpartum experience
• Charge nurse and resource nurse support available on each shift
• OB techs assist with C-section scrubbing, deliveries, supply stocking, and patient intake
• OB/Neonatologist available in-house or on-call 24/7 with a 30-minute response time
• RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team or ventilator management on this unit
• 3-shift unit-specific orientation provided
• Care for high-risk deliveries across all gestational ages, EMT drop-offs, substance withdrawal cases, and patients with no prior prenatal care
• Large Spanish-speaking patient population
• Higher-acuity patients may be transferred to other facilities as needed
• Navy scrub color required
• Holiday coverage worked in rotation with permanent staff, typically one major and one minor holiday
