Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in California on a 13-week night assignment. The role requires at least 1 year of LDRP experience and NRP certification, plus CA RN licensure. Acute care setting with 24/7 OB coverage and neonatal support.

Responsibilities include direct patient care across labor, delivery, and mother/baby care, unit with OB/NGC beds, and collaborative care with OB physicians, RT, and anesthesia. Travel and on-call duties apply.

• 1 year of LDRP experience required; 3 years preferred.
• NRP certification required; AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required (AHA).
• L&D-only experience accepted if OR circulating experience; postpartum-only not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Family Birthing Center (L&D, Mother/Baby) in an acute care hospital setting.
• Care for 70-80 births per month with 60-70 NST antepartum tests monthly.
• Titrate drips including pitocin and occasional insulin.
• Provide direct patient care across labor, delivery, and mother/baby couplet care.
• Collaborate with OB physicians, anesthesia, and RT staff during deliveries.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least 1 year of LDRP experience and NRP certification for a 13-week night shift assignment.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Minimum 1 year of LDRP experience required; 3 years preferred
• L&D-only experience accepted if candidate has OR circulating experience; postpartum-only experience not accepted
• Must be comfortable managing NRP at delivery given no in-house pediatric coverage
• Copy of driver's license required to validate legal name match on profile
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• Work in the Family Birthing Center (L&D, Mother/Baby) in an acute care hospital setting
• Unit includes 2 OBED beds, 7 LDRP beds, 4-8 overflow postpartum beds, and 1 OR suite for C-sections
• NICU on unit with 2 beds for newborn stabilization
• 70-80 births per month with 60-70 NST antepartum tests monthly
• Patient ratios: Labor 1:2, 1:1 at delivery, Mother/Baby couplets 1:4
• Patient population includes 35 weeks gestation and above, including possible twin deliveries; preterm patients under 35 weeks are transferred to higher level of care
• RNs responsible for titrating drips including pitocin and occasional insulin
• Charge Nurse or Nurse Shift Manager present every shift, preferably not taking a patient assignment
• One OB Tech scheduled each shift; no CNAs on unit
• OB physician in house 24/7; anesthesia on-call with 20-minute response time when no epidural patients present
• RT attends every delivery to provide respiratory support using ventilators, CPAP, and bubble CPAP equipment
• Uses GE fetal monitors (Fetalink EFM system) and Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement (Fri/Sat nights or Sat/Sun days)
• Holiday requirement to rotate in with core staff, working 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• May be placed on-call/standby with expectation to present within 30 minutes of call back
• Floating required to all other Sacramento facilities
• Scheduling provided 4 weeks in advance
• First to float on this unit
• Provide direct patient care across labor, delivery, and mother/baby couplet care
• Collaborate with in-house OB physicians, on-call anesthesia, and RT staff during deliveries
• Unit supported by a perinatal specialist focused on improving neonatal outcomes
• Candidates will complete a Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) prior to offer confirmation
• Pass/fail sterile technique testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes occurs on first day of orientation
• Failing sterile technique or Relias testing twice results in ineligibility with this health system for 6 months
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with this health system within the past 12 months
• PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
• Holiday time off may be considered but is not guaranteed
