Job summary
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position on a high-risk OB unit in New Orleans. The role requires 2+ years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency, with night shifts and on-call duties. Active LA license and required certifications are mandatory.

Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages.
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries.
- Manage neonatal care after delivery, including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments.
- Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives.
- Educate patients on breastfeeding, car seat safety, and newborn care.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position on a high-risk OB unit requiring 2+ years of experience and Epic proficiency.
- High-risk OB Labor & Delivery unit within a teaching hospital
- Handles approximately 200-300 births per month
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
- Weekend and holiday coverage required
- On-call as needed
- Floating required to Mother/Baby unit
- Patient ratio of 1:1:2
- Epic charting system used
- Active LA or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Experience with 200-300 births per month required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in high-risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation/scrub
- Experience with fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal monitoring
- Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and preterm labor
- Community and Trauma Level II hospital experience preferred
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries
- Manage neonatal care immediately following delivery, including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
- Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Provide patient education on breastfeeding, car seat safety, and newborn care
- Hospital-provided scrubs
- Candidates must reside within 75 miles for local rate consideration
- Previous permanent LCMC Health employees must have a 1-year gap before being eligible for travel positions
