Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Two-year nursing degree required, four-year degree preferred
• AHA BLS required within 1 month of hire
• NRP certification required within 6 months of hire
• ALSO certification required within 1 year of hire
• STABLE certification required within 1 year of hire
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification required within 1 year of hire
• Less than 1 year of experience required
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required

Responsibilities

• Labor & Delivery unit providing care for maternal and newborn patients
• Cross-trains to care for Med Surg/EICU patients as needed
• Part-time schedule of 2x 12-hour night shifts per week, 1900-0730
• Weekend rotation required
• Uses Meditech EMR
• 13-week contract
• Completes nursing histories, patient assessments, and individualized care plans for L&D patients
• Manages labor induction, cervical ripening, and labor progression assessment
• Handles medical emergencies including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, meconium management, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa
• Performs and interprets fetal heart monitoring
• Manages pregnancy-related conditions such as hypertension and diabetes
• Assesses newborn condition and performs neonatal resuscitation within scope of practice
• Recognizes and manages neonatal sepsis and monitors for adverse neonatal events
• Promotes patient education and family involvement in newborn care
• Communicates patient status changes promptly with the care team
