Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN with active NJ or Compact licensure for a night shift position at a high-volume academic medical center. The role requires 2+ years in Labor & Delivery/Antepartum, expertise in high-risk deliveries, and proficiency with Epic EMR.

The assignment runs for 13 weeks with a 3x12 schedule (6:30 PM–7:30 AM). Local candidates accepted at the same rate, first-time travelers welcome, facility features a Level III NICU.

Qualifications

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required.
• Certifications ACLS, BLS, NRP, and FHM required.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery/Antepartum experience required.
• Proficiency in high-risk deliveries, C-section care, and hemorrhage management.
• Experience with fetal monitoring, IUPC placement, and neonate care.

Responsibilities

• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:30 PM–7:30 AM).
• 13-week assignment.
• Work across Antepartum, High-Risk Antepartum, LDRP, Mother/Baby, and Level I Nursery.
• Unit delivers 200–300+ births per month.
• Patient ratios of 1:1–2.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, labor/delivery, postpartum and newborn care.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN with active NJ or Compact licensure for a night shift position at a high-volume academic medical center.

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and FHM
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery/Antepartum experience required
• Proficiency in high-risk deliveries, C-section circulating/scrubbing/recovery, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experience with external/internal fetal monitoring, spiral electrode placement, and IUPC placement/calibration
• Skilled in administration of blood products, anticoagulation, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, insulin drips, Pitocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
• Experience managing high-risk maternal conditions including HELLP, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, placenta previa/abruptio, and multiple gestation
• Newborn care skills including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, thermoregulation, and newborn assessment
• Postpartum care experience including fundus/lochia assessment, lactation support, and couplet care
• Cardiac emergency skills including adult/infant arrest response and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Epic charting experience required

Responsibilities

• Unit delivers 200-300+ births per month
• Patient ratios of 1:1-2
• Every other weekend requirement
• Floating required within skillset across Antepartum, L&D, L&D PACU, and Postpartum units
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide comprehensive nursing care across antepartum, labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn care settings
• Facility is a 597-bed academic teaching hospital with maternal-fetal medicine services and a Level III NICU
• Support family-centered care practices including Golden Hour bonding protocols
• Hospital-provided scrubs
• Winter holiday coverage required (work or on-call) for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees of the health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
