Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an RN for Labor & Delivery with at least 2 years of L&D experience. Requires CO or compact RN license, BLS/ACLS/NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and Epic charting proficiency. Experience in high-risk obstetrics, fetal monitoring, and postpartum care preferred.

Open to first-time travelers meeting requirements; local candidates within 75 miles are welcome. The role includes 3x12-hour day shifts, on-call duties, and floating to sister facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (CO or compact) in hand.
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience.
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications.
• Preferred: AWHONN Advanced.
• Experience with Epic charting system.
• Experience in teaching and community hospitals welcomed.
• Skilled in vaginal and high-risk deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery.
• Fetal monitoring expertise—external and internal including IUPC.
• Care for high-risk conditions (pre-eclampsia, HELLP, placenta previa, preterm labor).
• Med administration: Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives.
• Postpartum care including couplet care and lactation support.

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit within a Birthing Center, part of a facility delivering 100-200 babies per month.
• 16 staffed beds with a 1:3 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00) with various days of the week
• Required to work every third weekend
• On-call requirements per unit needs
• Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities within the North region as needed
• Uses Epic charting system
• Facility has earned Magnet designation four times, recognizing excellence in nursing practice
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum care including antepartum monitoring, neonatal care in the delivery room, and pain management support
• Completion of all facility-specific modules required within the first week of assignment
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during peak seasonal dates
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose this information
• Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment may not be rebooked for at least one year
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted
