Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week day shift assignment in Texas.

The ideal candidate holds a TX or compact license and is certified in BLS/ACLS/NRP with AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate (Advanced preferred) credentials. You must have 2+ years of Labor & Delivery experience, strong fetal monitoring skills, and experience with labor management and postpartum/newborn care.

Qualifications

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Beginner and Intermediate certifications required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
• 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Skilled in fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
• Experience with labor management including amnioinfusion, vaginal delivery assistance, and C-section circulation
• Experience with postpartum and newborn care including newborn assessment, thermoregulation, and discharge teaching
• Altera charting experience preferred but not required
• Travel experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Labor and Delivery unit in a hospital with fewer than 100 births per month
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• May consider 36 hours/week
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care settings
• Perform obstetrical triage, fetal heart rate monitoring, and recognition of abnormal patterns
• Assist with surgical procedures such as cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
• Support breastfeeding and baby-friendly protocols
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, and any positive result results in automatic cancellation
• Candidates must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer
• Must reside within 150 miles for local radius eligibility; local candidates not accepted
• Previous perm staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
