Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk unit in Anchorage, Alaska. The role requires an AK RN license, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced certifications, an NRP, and Epic charting experience. It includes night shifts and potential float to related units.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk unit requiring AK RN licensure, AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced certification, and NRP.

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required (must be in hand for auto offer)
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, and NRP
• Epic charting experience required
• Charge experience preferred or willingness to train as charge
• Skills required include IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and labor & delivery management
• Experience with high-risk antepartum, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation/recovery required
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Hepatitis B vaccination required (titers or declinations not accepted)

Responsibilities

• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit within an acute care hospital
• Unit includes 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
• Average of 7 deliveries daily with up to 14 patients including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases
• OB Triage sees 4-5 third trimester testing patients daily plus additional triage patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• May float to similar units within the hospital or affiliate facilities as needed
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor & delivery, mother/baby, and postpartum units
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries including sterile exams and fetal monitoring
• Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
• Provide postpartum care including couplet care, lactation support, and management of complications such as hemorrhage or pre-eclampsia
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former Providence permanent staff must have a minimum 3-month separation before returning as a traveler
• Travelers are limited to a maximum of 1 calendar year at this facility, followed by a required 6-month break before returning
• Local candidates are not accepted due to the radius rule
• Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma hospital recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
