American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift in Alaska. Must hold an active AK RN license, with 1 year L&D experience and required certifications (BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced, NRP). Epic EMR familiarity is essential.

Unit supports high-risk obstetrics with magnet designation; travel assignments limited to 12 months with a 6-month break before return. Generous housing and travel reimbursements are offered.

Responsibilities

• Care for high-risk Labor & Delivery patients in a night shift unit.
• Charting in Epic and coordinate with OB triage/testing and antepartum care.
• Float to related units as needed and adhere to Magnet-designated care standards.
• Support inductions, fetal monitoring, and management of PPH/Pre-eclampsia cases.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring an active AK RN license and AWHONN certification.

Requirements

• Active AK RN license required in hand for consideration
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Advanced, NRP
• Epic EMR experience required
• Charge experience preferred or willingness to train as charge
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, and labor management
• Experience with high-risk antepartum and postpartum complications such as pre-eclampsia, PPH, and PROM preferred
• 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Copies of certifications required for consideration

Responsibilities

• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit with OB Triage/Testing and Antepartum care
• Unit features 10 OB Triage rooms, 10 LDR rooms, 3 OR suites, and 4 PACU rooms
• Average daily deliveries around 7, with census up to 14 patients including inductions and high-risk antepartum cases
• OB Triage averages 4-5 third trimester testing patients plus daily triage influx
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• May float within scope to similar units as needed
• Charting completed in Epic
• Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma facility recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
• 407 total staffed beds
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Must be willing to work 2 of 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
• Travel assignments at this facility are limited to a maximum of 1 calendar year, followed by a required 6-month break before returning
• Facility only accepts Hepatitis B vaccination; titers or declinations are not accepted
• Floating to affiliate hospitals nearby may be required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
