Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a hybrid ICU/PCU unit in Kansas. Proficiency with balloon pumps, CRRT, and Impella devices is required, with at least 2 years of ICU experience and an active KS or Compact RN license.

The role features 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), every other weekend, and flexibility to float to PCU/CCU and other units. Epic EMR is used; orientation includes Epic and Director of Nursing training.

Qualifications

• Active KS RN license or Compact RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU experience required.
• Required experience with balloon pump, CRRT, and Impella devices.
• Experience with open heart patients required for night shift consideration.
• Must be able to draw own labs and place PICC lines, as no vascular access team is available.
• Must be comfortable calling own consults and conducting own codes.

Responsibilities

• ICU/PCU hybrid unit caring for a mixed critical care population including Neuro/Spine, Cardiac, Medical, and Surgical patients.
• RN to patient ratio of 2:1 for critical patients, flexing to 3:1.
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730, three shifts per week.
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Floating required to PCU/CCU and other inpatient units including Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED based on prior experience.
• Current EMR is Epic.
• Provide critical care nursing across a diverse mixed-acuity patient population.
• Attend a multi-day orientation including EMR training on Epic and Director of Nursing training sessions.
• Holiday coverage required for one holiday from each of the following groups: Thanksgiving Eve or Day, Christmas Eve or Day, and New Year’s Eve or Day.
• Facility is a nicotine-free environment.
• Local and travel candidates accepted at the same bill rate.
