American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in the United States. The role requires WV or Compact RN licensure and a minimum of two years of ICU experience.

Responsibilities include working in a 4-bed ICU, titrating high-acuity drips, telemetry monitoring, and collaborating with in-house coverage teams. Candidates must have an active RN license and valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Active RN license WV or Compact is required.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS (AHA) are required.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
• BSN is not required for this position.
• Must be able to titrate high-acuity drips independently.
• Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in a 4-bed ICU within an acute care hospital.
• Monitor and manage telemetry and critical conditions.
• Titrate drips such as propofol, cardizem, insulin, precedex, and levophed.
• Provide direct ICU-level nursing care across critical and medsurg overflow diagnoses.
• Coordinate with House Supervisor and in-house RT coverage.
• Complete unit orientation and EMR documentation in EPIC.

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a WV or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

Requirements

• Active RN license (WV or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Must be able to titrate high-acuity drips independently
• Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in a 4-bed Intensive Care Unit within an acute care hospital
• Patient population includes respiratory failure, afib/RVR, suicide, detox, occasional art lines, pediatric patients, and some medsurg overflow
• No PCU or intermediate care unit in the building
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• RNs are required to titrate drips including propofol, cardizem, insulin, precedex, and levophed
• RNs monitor and read their own telemetry strips house-wide for medsurg and ICU
• In-house Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage available, though not for all practices
• RT coverage in-house 24/7 covering all areas and equipment types including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Unit is supported by a House Supervisor rather than a dedicated charge nurse
• One clinical assistant typically supports the unit depending on census
• 12-hour night shifts, including every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights)
• Holiday coverage rotates with regular staff
• Floating to medsurg may occur during low census, though typically not with a full patient load
• No call or standby requirements
• EPIC EMR used
• Provide direct ICU-level nursing care across a range of critical and medsurg overflow diagnoses
• Unit orientation includes a tour, introductions, policy review, and 3-5 days of unit-based training alongside pharmacy, lab, and charting system instruction
• Scrub colors are flexible except for camo or orange
• Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate; no local candidates accepted
• Travelers who previously worked at this facility as permanent staff are not eligible to return as travelers
• Travelers with prior WVU Medicine experience must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative 1-year assignment length within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
• All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
