Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in West Virginia. Active WV or compact RN license is required, with 2+ years of RN experience and certifications in ACLS, BLS, NIHSS. EPIC exposure preferred, BSN not required.

The role is in a 20-bed ICU within an acute care hospital (Trauma Level 2). Expect 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours weekly with potential for 36/48 or 48-hour contracts.

Responsibilities

• Care for a mix of COVID-19, cardiac, post-surgical patients and others.
• 12-hour night shifts with weekends as scheduled.
• 36 hours per week guaranteed, with 36/48 or 48-hour contracts possible.
• Minimal likelihood of floating outside the ICU.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring critical care experience and EPIC exposure preferred.

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• BSN not required
• EKG testing required as part of the hiring process
• No false nails permitted
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in a 20-bed Critical Care Unit within an acute care hospital, Trauma Level 2 designation
• Patient population includes COVID-19 patients (roughly 30-50% of the unit), cardiac and post-angioplasty patients (~30%), and diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, and complicated bowel/belly surgery patients
• 12-hour night shifts with weekends as scheduled
• 36 hours per week guaranteed schedule, with 36/48 or 48-hour contract options considered
• EPIC EMR used, though experience is not required
• Minimal likelihood (about 2%) of floating outside the ICU
• Provide critical care nursing to a mixed ICU population including COVID-19, cardiac, and post-surgical patients
• Block scheduling and shorter-than-16-week contracts will be considered
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel positions, as local candidates are not accepted
• Returning travelers must have taken a 2-year break since last working at any WVU Medicine facility
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one year cumulatively without taking a 2-year break
• All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
• Extension requests cannot be made until a traveler is within 45 days of their current end date
