Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an ICU RN for a 13-week assignment in Texas. Requires TX or Compact license and at least 2 years ICU experience. Hemodynamic knowledge, arterial lines, and critical care skills are essential.

Candidates should have ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. Preference given to those with charge nurse, teaching hospital, trauma level II, and telemetry experience. Onsite drug screening applies; travel-ready candidates encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (TX or Compact) in hand at submission.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital experience preferred.
• Trauma Level II experience preferred.
• IV therapy, arterial line care, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and cardiac drip titration skills required.
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management preferred.
• Neuro/psych care experience (CVA, craniotomy, TBI) preferred.
• Cardiac procedures including TAVR, pacemakers, post cardiac cath care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for ICU and telemetry patients including monitoring and medication administration.
• Maintain patient safety with appropriate monitoring and wound care.
• Manage patient care 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio during 3x12 hour day shifts.
• On-call requirement once every 6 weeks; 6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks.
• Complete charting in the designated system; Altera experience preferred.
• Ensure timely labs and plan for completion within 72 hours of offer acceptance.
• Participate in orientation and onboarding modules.

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or Compact) required in hand at time of submission
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and cardiac drip titration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management preferred
• Experience with neuro/psych conditions such as CVA, craniotomy, and TBI preferred
• Experience with cardiac procedures including TAVR, pacemakers, and post cardiac cath care preferred

Responsibilities

• ICU unit caring for low acuity ICU patients or high acuity telemetry patients
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• On-call required once every 6 weeks
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
• Any charting system experience required; Altera experience preferred
• Provide direct patient care for ICU and telemetry patients including monitoring, medication administration, and wound care
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening, including marijuana testing, and a positive result results in automatic cancellation
• Candidates should avoid any substances, including CBD products, that could result in a positive drug screen upon arrival
• Must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a documented plan for completion
• Non-billable orientation modules averaging 6-8 hours are completed during orientation
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to be eligible to return as a traveler
• RN candidates must reside within 150 miles to be considered local; local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Travel experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers may be considered
