Responsibilities include caring for critically ill patients in the ICU at a teaching or community hospital, with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio. You may float within the hospital and nearby facilities, and travel requirements apply.

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a night shift position requiring ICU critical care experience and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications.

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, and ventilator management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Experience with renal replacement therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) preferred
• Experience with cardiovascular procedures such as CABG, TAVR, IABP, Impella, or ECMO preferred
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital setting
• Cares for critically ill patients including cardiovascular, medical, and surgical ICU populations
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00 to 07:30
• Cerner charting system preferred
• Floating required within the hospital and may include sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
• Provide critical care nursing to patients with complex cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological conditions
• Must be available to work every other holiday
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible as a travel candidate
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
• Travel pairs may be accepted based on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
• First-time travelers are not considered for this role
