American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment in Nebraska. The role requires 2+ years ICU experience, an active RN license, and NIHSS, BLS, ACLS certifications.

You will work in a 33-bed Level 2 trauma ICU with a 1:2-3 nurse-to-patient ratio, titrating drips, managing ventilators, and documenting telemetry using EPIC EMR; travel housing and licensure reimbursements provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license for state of submission required; compact licenses accepted.
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required and active; pending not accepted.
• Ability to titrate cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips; read telemetry strips.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and NIHSS certification.

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for the state of submission required; pending licenses not accepted
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required and must be active; pending certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Must be able to titrate cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips
• Comfortable managing respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to ventilators
• Must be able to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
• Driver's license copy required at time of consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Responsibilities

• 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16
• Level 2 trauma center in an acute care hospital setting
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients
• Cares for trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
• RNs required to titrate drips including cardiac, insulin, and sedation medications
• RNs manage respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilators
• RNs read, interpret, and document telemetry strips with tele tech oversight; GE monitors used
• Nurse aides and healthcare support techs assist based on census
• 12-hour day shifts, 0630-1830
• Self-scheduling for core staff with travelers added in; block scheduling not guaranteed
• Weekend rotation of every other weekend, with Saturday and Sunday as weekend days
• Floating required, typically to PCU and occasionally MedSurg, with adjusted ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Provide direct ICU nursing care including drip titration, ventilator management, and telemetry monitoring
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
• Minimum coverage of 2 holidays falling within the contract timeframe required
• Up to 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Must pass a required open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
• If placed on call, must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of being called back in
