Job summary

American Traveler, LLC is seeking an ICU RN for a night-shift contract in Maryland, requiring 2+ years ICU experience and NIHSS certification. The role includes ventilated patient care, EPIC charting, and floating within specialty.

Travel nurses are encouraged; schedule is 3x12 hours (19:00–07:30) with every 3rd weekend. No on-call duties; housing and licensure reimbursements are provided. First-time travelers welcome, with stipulations on proximity and leave requests.

Qualifications

• Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required.
• Ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, central/PICC line management, IV therapy.
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun.
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IABP.
• Continuous IV sedation and emergency medications administration.

Responsibilities

• Surgical ICU setting with high-acuity patients (stroke, renal failure, CRRT, MI-IABP, respiratory failure, pneumonia, post cardiac arrest, DKA).
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:30.
• Every 3rd weekend required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Floating within specialty and acuity level; travelers prioritized to float.
• Uses EPIC charting system.
• Utilizes specialized carts and critical care equipment as listed.
• Provide critical care nursing in a surgical ICU environment with complex, high-acuity patients.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Residents within 50 miles may not be accepted unless specified.
• RTO policy: max 7 days; >4 consecutive days adds a week to contract.
• One major holiday off may be permitted during winter.
• Former staff must be separated for 12 months before returning as traveler.
• Returning travelers must be away for 6 months after prior assignment.

• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Maximum of 7 RTO days may be requested; any request of more than 4 consecutive days requires an additional week added to the contract
• One major holiday off may be permitted during the winter season
• Former staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have been away from the system for at least 6 months after completing a prior assignment
