American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a night shift position in Illinois. The role requires 2+ years of ICU experience, active IL license, and strong critical care skills including ventilator management and cardiac drip titration.

Beneficial certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; PALS preferred. Expect a 1:2 nurse-patient ratio on a 3x12 night schedule with floating as needed. First-time travelers are welcome to apply and local candidates are accepted.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and 12-lead EKGs.
• IV insulin protocol experience required.
• Renal failure experience required.
• IV therapy and line care, including arterial lines and blood products.
• Sedation and vasoactive drip titration experience desired.
• Ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube support, suctioning.
• Infection prevention, PPE, and wound care experience required.

Aufgaben

• Provide critical care nursing in a Surgical ICU setting for complex patients.
• Maintain 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio on a 3x12 night shift (1900-0730).
• Travel or local assignment; float within hospital or affiliates as needed.
• Cerner charting used; experience preferred.
• Support care across multiple systems with rapid response during emergencies.
• First-time travelers welcome to apply; local candidates accepted without radius limits.
• RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer; holiday coverage required.

• Chronic/acute renal failure experience required
• IV therapy skills required, including arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, and starting IVs
• Medication management skills required, including continuous IV sedation and paralytics, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Respiratory/thoracic skills required, including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube assistance, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and surgical wound/drain or wound vac care required

Responsibilities

• 4-bed ICU/CCU unit in a critical access, Magnet-designated hospital
• 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio for all shifts
• Night shift (3x12), 1900-0730
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Cerner charting system used (preferred experience)
• Provide critical care nursing support in a Surgical ICU setting managing complex, multi-system patient needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Scrubs may be any solid color
• Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
• Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
