Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Maine. The role requires a compact or Maine RN license and at least 2 years of ER experience, with current BLS, ACLS, and PALS as mandatory credentials; TNCC and NRP are preferred.

The position features a 12-hour night shift (7p-7a), 36 hours per week, and no floating. Support staff includes ED providers, hospitalists, and respiratory therapy; orientation spans two days plus a preceptor day.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Compact or Maine) required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC and NRP preferred.
• Minimum 2 years ER experience required.
• Strong skills in EKGs, IV starts, TNKase, nebulizers, BiPAP, suturing, casting, and vent management.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department in a teaching facility with 11 ED beds and 3 trauma bays.
• Patient population neonates to geriatrics, including trauma and stroke cases.
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4 (acuity-based); 12-hour night shifts 7p–7a; 36 hours/week.
• No floating; weekend rotation every other weekend; no on-call; holiday coverage.
• FirstNet charting used; extensive ED support staff and respiratory therapy available.
• Orientation includes two hospital days plus one day with a preceptor.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ER experience and a compact or ME RN license.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or Maine state license required)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC and NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Skilled in EKGs, IV starts, TNKase administration, nebulizer treatments, BiPAP initiation, suture removal, casting assistance, and vent management
• Charge nurse experience should be disclosed if applicable

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department in an 89-bed teaching facility with 11 total ED beds including 3 trauma bays, 1 behavioral seclusion room, and 2 negative pressure rooms
• Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, including trauma, stroke, STEMI, and behavioral health cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4 (variable based on acuity), with tech ratio of 1:11
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a), 36 hours per week
• No floating required
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday coverage as needed
• Uses FirstNet charting system
• Support staff includes ED provider, mid-level provider, 24/7 hospitalist, house supervisor, receptionist, critical care transport team, and ED techs
• Respiratory therapy available on dayshift and can be called in as needed for unstable patients
• Security is on-site 24/7 though staff from all units may respond to escalations
• Orientation includes two days of hospital orientation and one day with a preceptor
• Scrubs may be any professional color; hospital scrubs available but not required
• On-site locker room, changing room, gym access, and free parking available

• Flu vaccination required for clearance to start, with medical exemptions only considered case by case
• Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health hospital in a permanent capacity
