Description du poste

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ED experience and comfort working both ED and inpatient areas in a critical access hospital setting.

Requirements
  • Active RN license (MT or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Comfort assisting with intubations and operating related equipment
  • Skilled in interpreting cardiac rhythms, mixing medications, starting peripheral IVs, PICC line care, lab draws, foley insertion/maintenance, and initiating/titrating drips
  • Experience with wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, and drains required
Responsibilities
  • Critical access hospital with a 5-bed ED (including 2 trauma bays) and 16 inpatient beds (acute/obs/swing)
  • ED patient population spans all ages but is mostly geriatric, with traumas, chest pain, stroke rule-outs, lacerations, respiratory issues, AKI, CHF, COPD, abdominal pain, falls, SNF residents, altered mental status, and intubated patients
  • Approximately 5-7 ED patients per 24-hour period with fewer than 50 trauma cases annually
  • Inpatient acute/obs population includes CHF, COPD, AKI, stroke, UTI, failed outpatient treatment, and general MedSurg cases with occasional stable pediatric patients
  • Swing bed population includes post-ortho surgery, falls, generalized weakness, post-TAVR, and stroke patients
  • Staffing is at least 2 RNs or 1 RN plus 1 LPN, plus 2 CNAs, with a 3rd nurse added on weekends when possible
  • Staff will work all areas including ED and inpatient as patient volume requires
  • EMR is Cerner, IV pumps are Alaris, med dispensing is Omnicell, and monitors are Mindray

  • Orientation includes NEO plus 3 shifts of floor orientation
  • Holiday coverage required for every other holiday in the contract

  • Unit has a small, supportive team culture, and several travelers have transitioned to permanent staff positions
  • First-time travelers will be considered, though previous travel experience is preferred
