Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER Registered Nurse for a Level II Trauma Center. The position requires a Texas license, at least 2 years of ED experience, and prior travel nursing assignments, with certifications ACLS/BLS/NIHSS/PALS/TNCC/ENPC.

You will work day shifts on a 4x12-hour schedule, with mids and weekend shifts included. Cerner charting experience is preferred, and travel reimbursements are available.

Qualifications

• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the ED.
• Level II Trauma Center experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Resume required for consideration.
• RTO required at time of consideration.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level II Trauma Center ED treating adult/pediatric patients.
• 1:4 patient ratio; day shift 4x12 hours.
• Mids schedule 36/48-hr weeks; 48-hr weeks also considered.
• 12 weekend shifts per contract.
• Handle shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and amputations.
• Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead ECG.
• Manage respiratory emergencies including ventilated patients.
• Administer IV vasopressors and emergency meds as needed.
• Manage neurological and psychiatric emergencies.
• Triage and use proper PPE; assist with isolations.
• Cerner charting system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric populations
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule (4x12 hours), alternating 36/48 hour weeks on mids schedule, with 48-hour weeks also considered
• 12 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) required per contract
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Handles shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Provides cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
• Manages respiratory emergencies including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, chest tubes, intubation, and ABG interpretation
• Administers IV vasopressors, emergency medications, and procedural sedation
• Manages neurological emergencies including CVA, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
• Treats psychiatric presentations including acute psychosis, overdose, and suicidal patients
• Provides comprehensive emergency care across pediatric, psychiatric, trauma, respiratory, neurological, and orthopedic presentations
• Performs triage and manages patients under isolation precautions with proper PPE
• Applies and manages splints for orthopedic cases
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with a positive result resulting in automatic cancellation
• Local candidates within 50-mile radius are not accepted for this position
