Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level II Trauma Center in Washington, requiring at least 2 years of ER experience and Epic proficiency. The role involves 4x12-hour evening shifts with weekend coverage, floating to sister facilities, and handling diverse trauma, cardiac, neuro, and behavioral health cases.

Active WA license and certifications (ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC) are required, with Epic EMR experience essential.

Qualifications

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration.
  • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC certifications required (ENPC accepted in place of PALS).
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience required.
  • Epic EMR experience required.
  • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred.
  • Stroke and STEMI certified facility experience preferred.
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and arterial line management, blood product administration, and ventilator/BiPAP care.
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and ABG interpretation preferred.
  • Experience in neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care preferred.
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required.

Responsibilities

  • Large Emergency Department treating patients ranging from low to high acuity, including stroke, STEMI, trauma, critical illness, and behavioral health cases.
  • Level II adult trauma center and Level III pediatric trauma center with primary stroke and STEMI receiving designation, plus thrombectomy transfer acceptance.
  • 4x12-hour evening shifts (2:30 PM - 3:00 AM).
  • Weekend shifts required.
  • Floating required, including to sister facilities within the state.
  • Uses Epic EMR.
  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of trauma, cardiac, neurological, and behavioral health presentations.
  • Manage critically ill patients and assist with behavioral health de-escalation.
  • Scrub colors are flexible except reddish-orange.
  • Parking is facility paid.
  • First-time travelers considered if they have at least 2 years of ER experience.
  • Former Providence permanent employees must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted.
  • Candidates are encouraged to remain flexible with scheduling, including holiday coverage for at least 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day).
  • All RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the consideration process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated.
