Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for travel assignments in North Carolina. You must hold an active NC RN license and have Epic EMR experience, plus at least 3 years in emergency care.

Position features 4x12-hour night shifts (19:00-07:00), 36 hours weekly, and every-other-weekend with holiday coverage. You may float to all Harnett Health locations; first-time travelers welcome.

Qualifications

• Active NC or compact RN license required; pending license not accepted.
• ER experience: minimum 3 years.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS, NIHSS; bonus for NRP, TNCC.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Prior charge experience preferred.
• Strong IV, central line, and emergency meds skills.
• Experience with psychiatric/overdose/suicidal patients.
• 12-lead ECG interpretation required.
• Arterial line management preferred; blood product knowledge helpful.
• No background or license actions within past 12 months.

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department care for adult/pediatric population.
• Maintains 1:4 patient ratio; night shift 19:00–07:00.
• 36 hours per week with every other weekend; holiday coverage required.
• Floats to all Harnett Health locations as needed.
• Uses Epic charting system; Level III Trauma Center setting.
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response duties.
• First-time travelers welcome to apply; travel focus.
• No on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required, pending license not accepted


• Minimum of 3 years of ER experience required


• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS, NIHSS


• Preferred certifications: NRP, TNCC


• Epic EMR experience required


• Prior charge experience preferred


• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs, and administration of emergency medications


• Experience with psychiatric, drug overdose, and suicidal patients required


• Experience obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias required


• Arterial line management and blood product administration preferred skills


• Must pass Advanced EKG exam as part of compliance


• No background or license actions within the past 12 months


• SSN and DOB required for consideration


• Previous travel experience required

Responsibilities

• Care for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure


• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response responsibilities


• Scrub color is royal blue and white


• Facility-required modules must be completed prior to start, estimated 4-10 hours


• First-time travelers are welcome to apply


• Local candidates within 50 miles of the main campus are not eligible


• Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler


• Maximum RTO of 4 days permitted, subject to manager's discretion


• Only one major holiday RTO request may be accommodated


• Night shift travelers may extend up to two times before requiring a 6-month break before reapplying
