Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night assignment in Maryland, requiring a compact or MD RN license and at least one prior travel assignment.

You will work 3x12 hour nights with a patient ratio of 1:4–6, using Cerner EMR, and cover weekends as part of a rotating schedule. TNCC/CPI are preferred; NIHSS, PALS, ACLS, BLS required, with pediatric emergency care and trauma experience valued.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (compact or MD) required.
• Minimum 2 years ER experience, recent within last 7 years.
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment.
• Certifications ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS required; CPI/TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Treat a combined adult and pediatric ED patient population.
• Maintain patient ratio of 1:4–6 during night shifts.
• Provide triage, EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management.
• Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation and orders.
• Support teaching hospital, LTAC, Trauma Level I/II settings as needed.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a compact or MD RN license and at least one prior travel assignment.

Requirements

• Active compact RN license or MD RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: CPI, TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Skills in pediatric emergency care, IV therapy, respiratory management, neurological trauma care, and cardiac monitoring required
• Experience with triage, EKG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management preferred
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years

Responsibilities

• Emergency Department setting treating combined adult and pediatric patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend, totaling 6 weekend shifts (Friday & Saturday nights) per 6-week schedule
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital, LTAC, Trauma Level I, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric cases
• Perform triage, EKG interpretation, splinting, and management of dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Orientation held every Monday
• Scrubs not provided; royal blue color required
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• RTO must be submitted at time of profile submission and cannot be changed afterward
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 60 miles of the facility
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must complete facility-specific training modules within one week of signing, and labs/drug screening within 48 hours of signing
• ER specialty candidates must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
