Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an Emergency Department RN with CA licensure and at least 3 years of ED experience for a hospital-based evening/night contract.

The role requires active California RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, Epic EMR experience, and strong adult/pediatric ED skills including trauma care, respiratory and cardiac events. Expect 3x12 hour shifts with some weekend coverage and travel housing support.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department RN experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Experience with pediatric and adult ED cases including trauma, respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and behavioral health conditions.
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration.
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients.
• Able to interpret ABGs and manage dysrhythmias.
• Experience administering procedural sedation and IV vasopressors.
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred.
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required.

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric population.
• Non-trauma emergency department in a stroke-certified facility.
• Patient ratio of 1:4.
• Variable evening and night shifts (3x12 hours), including 1p-1a, 4p-4a, and/or 7p-7a.
• Required to work every other weekend.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Provide emergency care across a wide range of acute conditions including trauma, respiratory distress, cardiac events, and behavioral health crises.
• Responsible for triage and infection control using isolation precautions and PPE.
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius.
• Returning staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler.
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract.
• Holiday coverage required for New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing.
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have solid ED RN experience.
