Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in California. The role requires CA licensure and 3+ years of ER experience, with proficiency in Epic and advanced trauma care.

You will work in a hospital ED with 3x12 shifts, 0900–1400 starts, weekend coverage as needed, and floating within the hospital. Travel-ready candidates welcome; on-site housing and per diem options may apply.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Minimum 3 years of ER experience
• Epic charting system experience
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line and central line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience administering continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
• Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and interpreting cardiac monitoring
• Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and pediatric emergencies
• 1 professional reference required (within 2 years)
• Nursys report required (pulled within 2 weeks of submission)

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital environment
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Variable mid shifts, 3x12 hours, with start times between 0900-1400
• Weekend shifts required depending on departmental needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the hospital based on census
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide emergency nursing care across a range of trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric cases
• Perform triage and apply isolation precautions/PPE as needed
• RTO must be pre-approved and included at time of consideration
• First-time travelers accepted if they have 3-5 years of ER experience
• Previous permanent staff of the facility are not eligible for this position
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate if within 50 miles of the facility
