Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position in Columbia, Missouri. The role requires MO or Compact RN licensure and trauma experience in a Level I center, with 3x12-hour night shifts and alternating weekends/holidays.

BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required; 2+ years RN experience and pediatric ED exposure are highly preferred. Emergency care spans adult and pediatric patients in a high-acuity environment; Cerner charting is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Active MO or Compact RN license at time of consideration.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • CPI certification preferred (required for Behavioral Health RNs, can be completed onsite if pending).
  • ATCN and TNCC certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
  • Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred.
  • Pediatric ED experience strongly preferred.
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and vasopressor management required.
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and ventilated patient care preferred.
  • Experience with neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury care preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Triage and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, assigned weekends, and required holidays

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care across adult and pediatric populations in a high-acuity trauma setting.
  • Manage care in a Level I trauma ED with stroke, and STEMI center responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with ED teams; assist with Cerner charting and observation units when needed.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I trauma, stroke, and STEMI center requiring MO or compact licensure and prior trauma experience.

Details
  • Level I trauma, Stroke, and STEMI Emergency Department with an internal Pediatric ED area
  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric populations
  • Patient ratios typically 1:4, occasionally 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Alternating weekends and holidays required
  • Floating required between ED and ED Observation units
  • Cerner charting system preferred
Requirements
  • Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required

Additional Information
  • Provide emergency nursing care across adult and pediatric patient populations in a high-acuity trauma setting
  • Psychiatric center is associated with the ED but travelers will not float there
  • Work in a facility open 24/7/365, including during inclement weather
  • 50% holiday coverage required as part of the contract
  • Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none allowed during the first week due to orientation
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have Level I trauma experience
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible; those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered a local rate
  • Non-billable orientation and annual training modules are required and average 4-6 hours
  • Contract extensions available up to 3 consecutive 13-week terms (9 months); a 6-month break is required before returning in an agency capacity thereafter
