Job summary

American Traveler Staffing Professionals is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III trauma Emergency Department position in Yakima, WA. The role requires 3+ years of high-acuity ED experience and a WA or compact RN license, with 12-hour night shifts and 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities include stabilizing and transferring high-acuity patients, patient care across all ages, and using Epic EMR. Certifications ACLS/BLS/NIHSS/TNCC plus PALS or ENPC are required.

Qualifications

  • Active WA or compact RN license required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a large-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and either PALS or ENPC.
  • Epic EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency care across the full patient age spectrum, including complex trauma, stroke, cardiac, and behavioral health cases.
  • Stabilize and transfer out neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric patients.
  • Assist with cath lab coordination for cardiac cases and TNK for stroke patients.

Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III trauma Emergency Department position requiring 3+ years of high-acuity ED experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details
  • 226-bed non-profit community hospital with a Level III trauma-designated Emergency Department
  • 34 ED beds seeing 200-250 patients per day, organized into zones including a 13-bed fast track (green zone)
  • Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma cases, stroke, cardiac, and behavioral health/substance use disorder patients
  • Handles transfer-out stabilization for neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric cases
  • Patient ratios of 1:3-5 based on acuity
  • Epic EMR required
  • 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend, with occasional back-to-back weekends possible
  • No floating and no on-call requirements
  • Scrubs may be any color as long as they are logo-free
Requirements
  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a large-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and either PALS or ENPC
  • Must pass the hospital's Triage Test prior to performing triage duties
  • Experience with barcode scanning medication administration, medication drips, and blood product administration required
  • Skilled in setting up chest tubes and arterial lines, and assisting with trauma and code cases
  • Experience with splinting, BiPAP, and ventilators required
  • Strong understanding of the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) required
  • Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
  • Point of Care Labs experience is a plus
Additional Information

  • Administer TNK for stroke patients and support cath lab coordination for cardiac cases

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Weekend scheduling flexibility is requested due to occasional back-to-back weekend shifts
