American Traveler is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular ICU assignment in Illinois. The role requires an Illinois RN license in good standing, BLS and ACLS certifications, and a minimum of three years of relevant ICU nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Weekend shifts (5 in 6 weeks) and every-other-holiday coverage
• Provide bedside care using the nursing process and develop care plans
• Collaborate with healthcare team to support outcomes and mobility
• Communicate with patients and families; hourly rounding

Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring at least three years of relevant nursing experience and current IL licensure.

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing required
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required; BSN preferred
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, patient safety, and nursing care documentation
• Experience monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment such as ventilators, respirators, and cardiac monitors

Responsibilities

• Work in a Cardiovascular Care Unit (CCU) setting within a hospital
• Care for critically ill cardiac patients, including ventilated patients requiring early mobility protocols
• Utilizes cardiac monitors, ventilators, respirators, oxygen pumps, and monitors intracranial and central venous pressures
• Uses Epic for charting and documentation
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• No on-call responsibilities
• No floating required
• Weekend commitment of 5 shifts within a 6-week schedule period
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday
• Provide direct bedside care to a designated group of cardiovascular ICU patients using the nursing process
• Perform patient assessments, develop and modify care plans, and implement nursing interventions based on evolving patient needs
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure best outcomes and support early mobility for ventilated patients
• Maintain clear communication with patients and families through hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and whiteboards
• Mentor peers and engage in ongoing professional development
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this assignment
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days within the 13-week contract
