Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Stepdown RN for a night-shift contract in Michigan. Candidates must have at least 2 years in stepdown nursing, an active MI RN license, and Epic charting experience. BLS/ACLS and advanced-life support credentials are required.

Responsibilities include caring for cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and PCU/IMC patients with a 1:3 ratio, 3x12 hour nights, and every other weekend. Local travelers within 75 miles at local bill rate are welcome.

Qualifications

• Active MI RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience
• Teaching hospital experience
• Epic charting experience
• Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience managing cardiac drips, dysrhythmias, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with wound care, insulin protocols, and isolation precautions
• License must be in hand prior to start date

Responsibilities

• Stepdown unit caring for cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and PCU/IMC patients
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope may be required if requested by the facility
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care across cardiac, neuro, renal, and GI patient populations
• Monitor and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias and manage vasoactive drip therapies
• Perform wound care, isolation precautions, and insulin drip titration as needed
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at the local bill rate
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO of 7 days or less is preferred
• Travel pairs are accepted
• Annual HealthStream modules must be completed onsite
